There is no single festival season in Nayarit.

Throughout the year, towns and communities celebrate patron saints, religious traditions, agricultural harvests, Indigenous heritage, gastronomy, national holidays, music, and local history. Some celebrations last a single day, while others transform an entire town for several weeks.

Nayarit is the kind of destination that makes it easy to fall in love with nature.

Imagine waking up in Tepic, watching the morning light spread across the mountains, traveling toward the Pacific, exploring mangroves and historic sites, eating fresh seafood by the ocean, and ending the day with a sunset before returning to the city.

When people picture Nayarit, beaches are usually the first thing that comes to mind. But travel inland and the scenery changes dramatically. When most people picture Nayarit, they imagine Pacific beaches, palm trees, fishing villages, and colorful coastal towns. But away from the ocean, another kind of natural attraction is waiting in the state’s valleys and mountains: warm mineral waters emerging from the earth.

A trip through Nayarit does not have to begin with a rental-car reservation. In fact, for many travelers, leaving the steering wheel behind can make it easier to experience the towns, beaches, markets, and communities along the way.

Walk through the historic center and you encounter colonial-era buildings, elegant 19th-century architecture, plazas, churches, museums, and streets that have been part of the city’s story for generations.
